2020 World Affairs Council Alan Miller, Esq Scholarship Awards

The World Affairs Council of Greater Reading has awarded $4,500 in scholarships to four Berks County students.

The scholarship recipients:

  • Sarah Gechter, Wyomissing Area Junior Senior High School, $1,500.
  • Joshua Klusewitz, Exeter Twp. Senior High School, $1,250.
  • Annabella Acinapura, Twin Valley High School, $1,000.
  • Brady Ferguson, Daniel Boone Area High School, $750.

This annual scholarship and recognition program was established in memory of Alan Miller, Esq. a longtime and active member of the World Affairs Council of Greater Reading and a former solicitor for Berks County.

Applicants for the scholarships are Berks County high school seniors who plan to major in international studies, political science, public administration or other related global studies.

Jane Webber, chairperson of the Scholarship Committee announced the recipients of the 2020 scholarships. The winners will be recognized at the virtual June Board meeting of the Council.

We have awarded scholarships in 2019 & 2020, totaling $8500. Applicants are evaluated on scholastic achievements, related field of study in college, involvement with World Affairs Council related activities and Model UN, and financial need. Awards are based on scores received from the evaluation score cards.

Scholarships are funded through the annual Pub Global Trivia competition and designated donations directed to the scholarship fund.
