Jessie John Velasquez Joins Customers Bank as Senior VP, Chief Accounting Officer

Customers Bank is pleased to announce Jessie John Velasquez has rejoined the company to serve as Senior Vice President, Chief Accounting Officer. Velasquez brings more than eighteen years of accounting, tax and audit experience, including extensive knowledge and expertise with the US and international accounting standards, as well as Security Exchange Commission reporting requirements. Velasquez will support the financial decision-making of the executive management team, and work with them to chart the path for the bank’s future growth.

“We are pleased to welcome Jessie back to Customers Bank. His significant accounting and regulatory experience will be valuable assets to the management team as we implement our strategic growth plans,” stated Richard Ehst, President and Chief Executive Officer of Customers Bank.

As Chief Accounting Officer, Velasquez will oversee corporate accounting functions, including corporate tax, regulatory reporting and accounting policy.

Velasquez’s experience includes leading technical accounting, financial and regulatory reporting in various management-level positions within the financial services sector. Most recently, he served as senior vice president and head of accounting policy and external reporting for Webster Bank, N.A. Prior to that, he was the senior vice president and deputy chief accounting officer at Customers Bank and senior vice president and head of U.S. accounting policy group at Santander Bank, N.A. He also held positions of increasing responsibility at Ernst & Young LLP. 

Velasquez received his Bachelor of Science degree in Accountancy from the University of the Philippines and is a Certified Public Accountant in the state of Pennsylvania. Velasquez and his wife currently reside in Collegeville, Pennsylvania.
