Muhlenberg Parks & Rec River Adventure

Jul 01, 2020

Come spend a lazy afternoon floating down the Schuylkill River from the Leesport area in a kayak or canoe to Jim Dietrich Park on Saturday, July 18th.

The Muhlenberg Township Parks & Recreation Department is guide paddlers with some experience on this adventure.  We will meet at Jim Dietrich Park near the red brick pavilion at 12 noon.  You will be given and overview of the day and we will then travel to the Leesport Post Office located at (4 East Wall St. Leesport 19533) to gain access to the river.

Rental equipment will be provided by Blue Marsh Outdoors(BMO) and includes kayak or canoe, paddles, and life jackets.  All participants are required to wear a life preserver and sign a waiver form. Please wear appropriate water attire and water shoes for your safety.  Bring along sunscreen, a hat, and water.

NOTE: Please coordinate your own transportation to Leesport for the start of the event AND again back to Leesport to get your car.  It might be good to find a friend to join you so a car can be at the start and finish locations.  No transportation will be provided.

A limited amount of equipment will be available for rent.  Registration of equipment is available online at www.muhlenbergtwp.com under facility and program rentals from now until July 10th.  The cost is $35/ person.

If you have any questions, please contact the Parks Office at 610-929-4727.
