Humane Pennsylvania’s 43rd Annual Virtual Walk for the Animals & Walktoberfest

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed virtually everything this year about how we live and work. That’s why Humane Pennsylvania is holding a VIRTUAL Walk for the Animals this year, too!

Due to the uncertainty of the ability to bring thousands of people and pets safely together this year on September 12 (the originally scheduled date for the in-person Walk), Humane Pennsylvania is inviting you to support our work this July 24-26, 2020 with a one-of-a-kind Virtual 43rd Annual Walk for the Animals & Walktoberfest!

It’s just like our regular walk except we will all be walking together wherever we are over the course of three days. Walk for the Animals & Walktoberfest is the oldest and largest animal welfare event in the region. In 1977, the Humane Society of Berks County, hosted its very first Walk for the Animals. Here we are 43 years later as Humane Pennsylvania walking for the animals and better serving our community. The Walk will certainly look a bit different this year, as we all come together to walk virtually, but the funds raised for the animals in our care is what remains the most important. By registering for the Walk and raising funds, supporters will make a life and death difference for thousands of animals!

We are working to still include aspects of the Walk that supporters know and love, like walkers still get a real t-shirt (mailed to them), walkers still get to walk with friends (by video or safe social distance), and still get to jam out to Walktoberfest (you can play whatever music you want)!

Just as importantly, you can help us raise very real and very needed funds for our critical work supporting animals and people in Berks and Lancaster Counties and across PA. The world may have stopped, but our life-saving work didn’t. As essential front line workers, Humane Pennsylvania and our hospitals stayed open, housing and adopting pets, providing emergency veterinary care, and distributing over 238,000 pounds of pet food and supplies since March 16 when the closures began.

Without donor support, especially during these times, we cannot offer any of these services. That’s why this year’s virtual Walk is so important. It’s not too late to register to walk virtually, and while you’re there, purchase some raffle tickets, and browse our virtual vendors too! For complete details please visit https://humanepa.org/events/walk-for-the-animals/!

This year’s Walk is sponsored by these generous people: Performance Toyota, Ronald W. Bair, Jr., CFP, Bailiwick Hair Center, Summit Advisory, Blazing Technologies, Home Again, UGI Utilities, Zero Gravity Designs, Petsmart, VCA, Karen Linder, Jim Blickle, & Zoe Miller, Storage World, B&L Ott Heating & Air Conditioning, and Mike & Lee Bach and hounds.

Grab your sneakers, keep your distance, wear your mask and join Humane Pennsylvania from wherever you are for the 43rd Annual Virtual Walk for the Animals & Walktoberfest to support homeless animals in Berks and Lancaster Counties and beyond on July 24 – 26, 2020. Together we are building the best community anywhere to be an animal or animal caretaker.
