The Reading Downtown Improvement District is sad to announce that due to these uncertain times, the Reading Holiday Parade 2020 and Reading Fire + Ice Fest 2021, have been cancelled.
Executive Director of the Reading Downtown Improvement District, Charles Broad, said, “Many families look forward to both these events each year, so this difficult decision was not an easy one to make. But, it is unknown how the 2020 public health crisis will evolve as we enter into flu season. It would be unwise to plan for an event of this size with a high volume crowd. We will use the remainder of 2020 strengthening our other services offered at the Reading Downtown Improvement District, including our Safe, Clean, and Green Ambassador services.” The Reading Holiday Parade traditionally takes place on the Saturday before Thanksgiving, with Reading Fire + Ice Fest normally taking place in January.
Both the Reading Holiday Parade and the Reading Fire + Ice Fest are organized by the Reading Downtown Improvement District. The Sixth Annual Reading Fire + Ice Fest kicked off 2020 on January 17 + 18, and was made possible thanks to the Hawley and Myrtle Quier fund of the Berks Community Foundation
