DeMarco Named VP of Advancement, Executive Director of Foundation for RACC

Reading, PA-Reading Area Community College (RACC) is pleased to announce that Anthony “Tony” DeMarco has been named the Vice President of Advancement and the Executive Director of the Foundation for RACC.

“I am excited and honored to join Reading Area Community College. The students of RACC deserve the support of the generous Berks County community, and I look forward to making those essential connections between students and philanthropists, helping a countless number of students achieve their dreams of a college education.”

“Tony DeMarco is an outstanding development professional with deep experience who will serve RACC and our students very well in this critical position,” says Reading Area Community College President Susan Looney. “We are thrilled that Tony will join our team, and we welcome the innovative ideas and strategic approach he will bring to the college and our community.”

DeMarco joins RACC from Alvernia University where he successfully managed the fundraising campaign to build the Tom and Helen Flynn Complex for Recreation, Wellness and Health Sciences–the largest building campaign in Alvernia history. DeMarco also managed the Salute to Tom Flynn Gala, which raised $2.1 million dollars in commitments for Reading students. The Alvernia Women’s Council, the Alvernia Athletic Club, the Alvernia Weekly Mission Message, the Alvernia Prayer Garden & Columbarium and the “Day of Giving” at Alvernia were all established during DeMarco’s tenure. DeMarco was also responsible for bringing the Pepsi Company to Alvernia and working with President Tom Flynn and CFO Doug Smith to secure a seven-figure commitment from Pepsi to the University. DeMarco and the Alvernia Advancement Department were honored with a prestigious National Council for Advancement in Support of Education (CASE) Award as one of the most improved Advancement Departments in the nation.

Prior to Alvernia University, Tony served as the Vice President of the Lancaster Barnstormers where he created the promotional schedule, managed the skybox partnerships, sold corporate sponsorships, and raised several hundred thousand dollars for Pennsylvania nonprofit organizations. DeMarco was honored with the Ken Shepard Award for promotional excellence in minor league baseball. DeMarco also led development efforts in the New York Region for years at his alma mater, Franklin & Marshall College, under iconic president John Fry.
