Reading Hospital Recognizes 500th COVID-19 Patient Discharge

West Reading, Pa.– Last week Reading Hospital – Tower Health recognized the discharge of its 500th patient to successfully recover from COVID-19. Remarks were given by William M. Jennings, Reading Hospital President and CEO, Dawn Anuszkiewicz, Reading Hospital Chief Operating Officer, and Debra Powell, MD, Chief, Section of Infectious Disease and Medical Director, Infection Prevention at Reading Hospital. At the conclusion of the remarks Dawn Anuskiewicz and Dr. Powell ceremoniously added the 500th heart to the wall dedicated to the COVID-19 patients who have been discharged to their homes.

“This is an achievement worth recognizing and speaks to the high-quality care our team members provide in our community,” said William M. Jennings. “Just a few months ago, we knew very little about the particular challenges of caring for patients with this virus. But our team continuously adapted, following the guidelines and recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Pennsylvania Department of Health (DOH). It has not been easy, but the smiles on the faces of the patients we send home make all the hard work more than worth it.”
