Reading, PA – Albright College has added a new co-major in public policy and administration. Students pursuing public policy and administration will learn about both theory and practice of data-driven government policy processes and be exposed to the functions and role of non-profit organizations.
Students can personalize the public policy and administration co-major by combining it with another major, such as economics, history, public health, political science, accounting, arts administration, computer science or environmental studies. Nearly half of Albright students take advantage of Albright’s distinctive “co-major” programs – which enable students to cross or combine different programs, without taking longer to graduate.
“Students pursuing a degree in public policy and administration will be well prepared for civil service tests that students of other majors remain ineligible,” said Michael Armato, Ph.D., assistant professor of political science and director of the public policy and administration program at Albright College. “Graduates will also be immediately eligible and ready to work in nonprofit agencies or pursue graduate study.”
Recognizing a growing field, the Bureau of Labor Statistics found that U.S. governments added 132,000 public policy jobs in just one year (2018-19), and the Center for Civil Society Studies reports that non-profit job growth outpaced for-profit job growth by three to one from 2007 to 2016.
Nationally ranked by the Wall Street Journal/Times Higher Education, the U.S. News and World Report, Washington Monthly and the Princeton Review, Albright College has been named a Best Value college, recognized for helping alumni earn a high return on their investment.
