Girls on the Run® of Berks Virtual 5K for 5K—GOTR Girls Run the World!

Girls on the Run of Berks County will host its Fall 5K celebratory event, virtually, Friday, November 27 through Tuesday, December 1. The culminating event of the Fall season, the 5K celebrates the accomplishments of GOTR girls. As a virtual event, participants can complete the 5K on their own time and in their own place—bike, canoe, run, walk—find your “happy pace”.

“We held our first virtual 5K in the spring and still brought together over 300 participants including GOTR girls, their families and friends as well as community runners,” explained Executive Director Kirsten Haas. “Even though we cannot host the event in-person, the virtual setting is a great way to foster our core value of ‘finding strength in our connectedness’.”

Registration for the event opens Sunday, November 1 at https://www.gotrberks.org/Virtual-5K. The event is open to the public and all proceeds from the event benefit Girls on the Run of Berks County. Registration cost is $10.00/person and includes a swag bag of goodies courtesy of program sponsors and community supporters. Fall 5K t-shirts will also be available for sale at registration for $15.00/each.

Haas continues, “This season, we added a $5000.00 fundraising goal as well—5K for 5K. 48% of our program girls receive financial assistance and the COVID-19 pandemic impacts our ability to serve girls in the same capacity.” Participants can choose a “Donation Only” option at registration if they want to support the event without committing to a virtual 5K.

Swag bag and t-shirt pick up times will be announced closer to the event date. For more information about the event and how to register and/or donate, visit https://www.gotrberks.org/.
