Tower Health Revises Visitor Policy

West Reading, PA.-  Tower Health is committed to protecting the safety of our patients, staff, and community during the COVID-19 pandemic. With that goal in mind, the health system is updating visitor policies at its hospitals.

A patient’s care team will decide on a case-by-case basis whether having a visitor is clinically appropriate, including when the visitor is a family member supporting the patient by providing care. All approved visitors will be screened in accordance with guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Pennsylvania Department of Health (PA DOH). Tower Health visitor guidelines will be evaluated as the COVID-19 situation evolves and are subject to change based on guidance from the CDC and PA DOH.

Debra Powell, MD, Chief, Section of Infectious Disease and Medical Director, Infection Prevention at Reading Hospital – Tower Health said, “As cases surge in our hospitals and communities we must prioritize the health and safety of our patients and team members. As a community we must remain vigilant to help stop the spread of COVID-19. Please continue to wear your mask, wash your hands with soap and water, or alcohol-based sanitizer if soap is not available, and practice social distancing.”
