Reading Museum Closes, Museum Shop Remains Open, Santa Event “Grab + Go”

Reading, PA — The Reading Public Museum announced new protocols that comply with the latest mandate restrictions. This includes changes to the sold-out Visit with Santa event planned for Sunday, December 13. Updates to Museum operations are as follows:

  • Museum and Planetarium — The Museum and Planetarium will close to the public beginning Saturday, December 12 and will remain closed through Monday, January 4. The parking lot will remain closed to the public.                                                          
  • The Museum Gift Shop — The Museum Gift Shop will remain open 11am – 2pm every day through Wednesday, December 23. Gift Shop visitors will have access to the lot in front of The Museum and will enter and exit through the Museum Road entrance.
     
  • Visit with Santa Event — Guests who were previously registered for the sold-out Visit with Santa event on Sunday, December 13 are now invited to a “grab and go” to receive their activity kit and goodie bag between 9am and 10am. Guests will enter via the Museum Road entrance and exit through Parkside Drive South. The parking lot will remain closed to the public. Non-registered guests are welcome to come through the line beginning at 10:30am for an alternative kit, while supplies last. One kit per child.Santa will be outside to wave “hello” to families receiving their kits. Children are encouraged to bring along their pre-written letters to Santa and place them in Santa’s mailbox.

    Those pre-registered will include kits that include four crafts and a goodie bag of coupons and treats from local businesses. Contributing businesses include: Chick-Fil-A, Giant, the Exeter and Kenhorst Dairy Queens, Buca Di Beppo, Wyomissing Family Restaurant, Educational and Fun, Texas Roadhouse, the Chabad of Berks County, and Sweet Street Desserts. Representatives from Mid Penn Bank, Pivot Physical Therapy, and Busy Bees Pottery will also be visiting handing out holiday treats.

  • Other Events and Programs — All other educational programs are cancelled through January 4.
