Mayor Eddie Moran Announces Santa is Coming to Town

Reading: Santa Claus, assisted by Mayor Eddie Morán and the Reading Fire Department, will be visiting neighborhoods in the City of Reading on Friday, December 18, 2020, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Simultaneously, the Reading Recreation Commission will be distributing 500 Holiday Gift Bags with goodies for kids in coordination with Friday’s meal and pantry box distribution and Santa’s visit.

Santa Claus will be riding on the Reading Fire Department’s Ladder Truck and escorted by the Reading Police Department. His journey will begin at Schlegel Park and wind his way through the following neighborhoods: Oakbrook, Millmont, Neversink, 3rd and Spruce, Baer Park, Glenside, 11th and Pike, down 13th through City Park and back to Schlegel Park.

The Holiday Bags are courtesy of the following organizations: employees of the Reading Hospital (hygiene products), Godiva and the Pagoda Foundation (candies), Wood to Wonderful (toys), Bausman Memorial Church (hats), the Reading Public Library (books) and the Reading Recreation Commission (socks). Pantry boxes are courtesy of Helping Harvest. These are the locations and time for the gift distributions:

“I am happy to be part of bringing some holiday magic and joy to the children of Reading. We want this event to help the kids of Reading create memories of a beautiful Christmas season in 2020,” said Mayor Eddie Morán. “Thank you to our City officials for helping to bring Santa to town!”

“We’re beyond thankful for all of the support that we’ve received from our community partners to make our Holiday Gift Bag giveaway a success!” said Daphne Klahr, Executive Director, Reading Recreation Commission.
