Reading, PA – The YMCA of Reading and Berks County is offering a new approach to New Year’s Resolutions for 2021. Beginning on January 18, the Y will launch STRONG, a free six-week program focused on making healthy habits, positive life changes, and connections within our community.
STRONG will take place entirely virtually and is open to both YMCA members and non-members. There will be a weekly theme relating to an aspect of healthy living such as movement, rest, healthy eating, goal setting, and even volunteerism in our community. Each week will feature interviews with staff or community members, an activity held via Facebook Live or Zoom, and group Zooms to check-in on physical and mental wellbeing.
Active participants in the program will have an opportunity to win top prizes. Prizes will be awarded weekly and include FitBits, massages, fitness gear, and more. Individuals who engage in activities for all six weeks will be entered into a drawing to win a free year’s membership to a YMCA of Reading and Berks County branch of their choice.
“We are so excited to offer overall wellness support to our community during a time that Berks County needs it most,” says Alyssa Bushkie, Director of Operations. STRONG, she says, is designed to address the challenges our community faces in light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
To sign up for STRONG, individuals should join the STRONG 2021 Facebook Group. Opt-In for the program begins on January 7. For more information, please visit www.ymcarbc.com/strong.
