Denny Lorah Steps Down as President of Berks County Parrot Head Club

After 18 years and leading the club in raising over $800,0000 for local charities, Denny Lorah has decided to step down from his position as President of the Board.

His love for Jimmy Buffet and the life he personifies led Denny to chartering our very own Parrot Head Club in 2002. He also was the creator of the Berks County Parrot Head Angel Fund created to help children with life-altering funds for personal hardships. His love and passion for the club continues but his retirement from Denny’s Electric has taken him to the Florida Keys, a dream come true and it was time to step down.

Debbie Hartranft

Replacing Lorah as Board President of the club is Debbie Hartranft, Director of Development and Communications at Berks Community Health Center.  Debbie has been involved in the club for 9 years, joining after being a charity partner for a club event.  Ever since, Hartranft has held various leadership positions including Events Chair and Vice President of the Board.  Her career in the nonprofit sector has provided great insight to the club as they live their mission of “Partying with a Purpose”.   Hartranft is also President of the Board of New Journey Community Outreach.

The Berks County Parrot Head Club’s mission is to promote friendship and organize activities for people who share an affection for the tropical spirit of singer-songwriter Jimmy Buffett and a desire to contribute to the betterment of the community and environment through a variety of volunteer efforts.  For 18 years, the club has held two events raising funds for charity partners, two highway cleanup events, and an annual Toys for Tots campaign.
