“Great Decisions” Discussion Group Series Returning To Reading Public Library In 2021

Reading Public Library will be offering the “Great Decisions” Discussion Group Series once again in 2021, presenting conversations on some of the most critical foreign policy issues facing America today.  The 2021 topics are:

  • Brexit – taking stock and looking ahead
  • The World Health Organization’s response to Covid
  • Global supply chains & US national security
  • The future of Persian Gulf security
  • China and Africa
  • The two Koreas
  • The Coldest War: Great power competition in the Arctic
  • The end of globalization

The discussion group will meet virtually via Zoom every second Tuesday beginning on March 2 from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm.  For people who prefer to participate in person, limited spots will be available at Reading Public Library Foundation building, 113 S. 4th St., Reading and in the Jerome Marcus Learning and Meeting Commons rooms at Main Library, 100. S. 5th. St.

Topics are presented through a briefing book, video presentation and facilitated discussion.  The $30 registration fee includes a briefing book with expert papers on all eight of the topics.  Scholarships are available through Reading Public Library.  The Great Decisions series is supported by the World Affairs Council of Reading.
