Girls on the Run of Berks County announced that registration for the 2021 Spring season is now open at GOTR Berks Spring 2021 Program Registration. Girls in Berks and Schuylkill counties can register for Girls on the Run (girls in 3rd-5th grades) or Heart & Sole (girls in 6th-8th grades). Each program is an eight-week session led by trained volunteer coaches from the community. Girls get a program t-shirt, a journal, a water bottle, a 5K registration, a 5K medal and lessons that will last a lifetime.
Girls on the Run of Berks will offer the program at area schools as well as at an expanding roster of community sites such as the YMCA of Reading and Berks and the Wyomissing Playground.
“We are so excited for Spring and grateful for the school and community sites hosting teams for our Spring 2021 Season,” explains Girls on the Run of Berks Program Coordinator Tania Hollos. “These new partnerships with parks and recreation sites in Berks and Schuylkill counties create the opportunity for us to serve more girls now and in the future.”
In response to the pandemic landscape, Girls on the Run of Berks adapted its afterschool programming so it can be offered in-person with safety measures such as physical distancing, it can be offered in a safe virtual space or if necessary, move between the two options. This fluid programming model ensures that participants will experience the social, emotional and physical outcomes of the program while allowing local teams to adjust to changes in the school and community health guidelines throughout the season.
“At Girls on the Run of Berks, we are determined to adapt, serve and sustain, for the girls of Berks and Schuylkill,” stated Executive Director Kirsten Haas. “We are ready to step into Spring!”
