Kutztown University Celebrates Women’s History Month 2021

March is Women’s History Month and Kutztown University has planned a variety of events to celebrate.

Women’s History Month began as a weeklong proclamation in 1980 by president Jimmy Carter. The week of March 8 was originally designated as National Women’s History Week. The weekly recognition continued until 1987, when Congress passed public law to identify the entire month of March as Women’s History Month.

Women’s History Month is not only celebrated in the United States, but also in its globally inclusive iteration, International Women’s Month, which is celebrated Monday, March 8, for this year.

The Kutztown University Women’s Center leads many of the efforts for Women’s History Month and strives to create a campus culture that supports gender equity and inclusion. Through its cultural and educational resource library and events, advocacy, prevention initiatives and leadership opportunities, it is committed to fostering an environment that is safe, supportive and empowering for all community members. Learn more or get involved by visiting their website or contacting [email protected].
