Pennsylvania SBDC Celebrates 5th Annual National SBDC Day

Pennsylvania SBDC to celebrate the Fifth Annual National Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Day on March 17, 2021. SBDC Day commemorates the hard work of all the dedicated team members around the country and celebrates our clients. SBDC Day will unite a network of more than 900 SBDC centers across the country and the hundreds of thousands of clients they collectively serve including America’s veterans, women-owned businesses, underserved communities, and young entrepreneurs. As the most comprehensive small business assistance network in the United States, SBDCs also promote technology development, exports, and rural development.

Small business owners and entrepreneurs faced hardships and uncertainties during COVID-19; Many sought help from their local SBDCs throughout the nation. “SBDCs helped generate; 91,767 jobs, $7 billion in sales growth; $6 billion in capital investments; and started 20,374 new businesses proving once again, SBDCs are leaders in job creation and economic growth,” according to America’s SBDCs 2020 annual report.

In Pennsylvania specifically, SBDCs provided consultation to 13,128 clients from Jan. to Aug., yielding a grand total capital formation of $172,979,304.76.

“On this national SBDC Day, I want to thank our more than 10,000 PASBDC small business clients across the Commonwealth who continues to demonstrate the resiliency and persistence needed to recover from the impact of the pandemic. These small business owners have helped to keep more than 80,000 team members employed in their businesses,” said State Director Dr. Ernie Post.

“I also want to thank our close to 200 PASBDC professional business advisors who have worked countless extra hours to assist our aspiring and established entrepreneurs with business planning and access to the various federal, state, and local financing programs that were made available to small businesses,” Dr. Post added.
