Berks Bards to Present Poetry Month, a Celebration of Verse

Mar 23, 2021

Each April, local poetry group Berks Bards sets into motion a month long tribute to the written and spoken words of poetry penned by local authors. The celebration, coinciding with National Poetry Month is known as ‘Bard Fest’, when the group hosts poetry workshops, readings, musical collaboration performances, and other types of events around Berks County.

Celebrating poetry month encourages the winter-weary to shake off sloth, renew friendships, and exhibit fresh work, which fosters confidence.

Included in Bard Fest is the opportunity for poets to present their pieces in video readings which are shared across various social media platforms and also on television and streaming online in coordination with Berks Community Television. Each day on BCTV a new author is featured, and the poems are inserted throughout the local television schedule for the entire month of April.

Most Berks Bards events are free and open to the public. Many offer an opportunity to read/perform your work.

Berks Bards is a grassroots poetry group with the aim to encourage the lively art of poetry in Berks County. Follow Berks Bards on Facebook for updates and events, and visit https://berksbards.blogspot.com/ for more information.
