Berks Career and Technology Center Appoints New Executive Director

Dr. Michael Stauffer has been selected as the new Executive Director for the Berks Career and Technology Center (BCTC), effective July 1, 2021.  The BCTC Joint Operating Committee made the appointment official at the Wednesday, April 28, 2021, voting meeting.  Dr. Stauffer is succeeding Dr. James Kraft who is retiring after eleven years at the BCTC; the last six as Executive Director.

Mr. Oscar Manbeck, Chair of the BCTC Joint Operating Committee, stated, “We are pleased to have selected Dr. Mike Stauffer as our new Executive Director.  Dr. Stauffer is an outstanding educational leader who will continue the BCTC tradition of excellence.  He is a proven leader and is well respected in the field of education.  The Joint Operating Committee has full confidence that Dr. Stauffer will successfully lead the BCTC as Executive Director to meet the needs of our students and staff, serve our member school districts, and collaborate with Berks business constituents.

Dr. Stauffer joined the BCTC in 2019 as a building administrator, and currently serves as Principal for the East Campus and Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment.  Prior to joining the BCTC, Dr. Stauffer served as Middle School Principal at Eastern Lebanon County School District, High School Principal at Oley Valley School District, and started his education career as a Technology Education Teacher within the Tredyffrin / Easttown School District.  Prior to entering the profession of education, Dr. Stauffer spent 12 years in the field of construction.

The Berks Career and Technology Center (BCTC) was founded in 1968 and is regarded as one of the premier career and technical education facilities in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, largely due to the outstanding performance and success of its students. The BCTC operates two campuses, each situated on more than 23 picturesque acres in Berks County.  The BCTC provides high-quality technical education and career preparation to meet the needs of today’s high school students and adults.  The school serves 16 public school districts, numerous nonpublic schools, and the citizens and businesses of the Berks County area.  The Career Center is governed by a Joint Operating Committee comprised of school directors from each of the 16 sponsoring school districts.  With campuses located in Leesport and Oley, the BCTC is conveniently located to serve the students of Berks County.  For more information visit www.berkscareer.com.
