Safe Gardening For Seniors

by Wyomissing Public Library

May 17, 2021

Gardening season is upon us, and the Wyomissing Public Library is ready for it, with two programs next week.

On Thursday, May 20th at 6 PM, Kathy Roberts, Health and Wellness Educator for Berks Encore, will present a virtual program, Safe Gardening for Seniors – using the 4 “P’s,” Planning, Protection, Preparation and Pacing. Ms. Roberts will discuss gardening practices from personal experience to professional tips and advice, and precautions to keep you out of harm’s way so that you can garden with confidence and enjoy the fruits of your labor.

This program will be held via Zoom, and registration is required; email [email protected], or call the library at 610-374-2385 to sign up.

On Saturday, May 22nd, the library will host a Plant Swap beginning at 9 AM on the library grounds at 9 Reading Boulevard in Wyomissing. Gardeners and plant lovers are invited to bring a maximum of ten plants – vegetable plants, herb and flower plants, annuals and perennials, bulbs, root divisions, succulents, houseplants and more – and trade for others. There is no charge and the swap is open to the public.

The drop-off date for plants is Friday, May 21st between 10 AM and 5 PM. All plants must be in containers and labelled with the plant name, growing conditions, etc.

To register online, email [email protected], or call 610-374-2385.
