The Rotary Club of West Reading-Wyomissing was awarded a grant from Rotary International Foundation to establish five (5) registered Little Free Library book sharing boxes to be a resource for our community. We engaged and collaborated with various local organizations to work together to build and locate these libraries in our community.
“Our Rotary club donates funds to Rotary International every year to support projects throughout the world. It brings us great pleasure to have some of these funds returned to our local community. Thank you to our grant writing committee and to our members who have stepped up to make this project a reality. I look forward to additional boxes being built and installed in our community. Everyone deserves the right to access books. We are helping to put books into hands of people who may not otherwise have the opportunity to access them.” Jeremiah Sensenig, Club President and Area 4 Director.
Our first completed book sharing box was built partnering with the Hawk Mountain Council Urban Outreach Division. Gage Personnel is the host site located at 101 N. 7th Avenue West Reading, PA. This Little Free Library sharing box is across from Penn State Health Children Center which provides an excellent opportunity for young readers to find and share books.
“The Hawk Mountain Council was very happy to support the Little Library Project sponsored by the West Reading-Wyomissing Rotary Club. Reading is an incredibly important skill that our children need to continue to sharpen, and we are glad that Scouting could assist. We are very appreciative of Scoutmaster Mike Lerch from Troop 161 for designing and building the sharing box and for William and Kristi Gage for allowing us to place the boxes on their property.” Jim Milham, Scout Executive and CEO.
