Reading Public Library has announced the film Fences as the June Cinema Club selection. Fences (2016), a film adaptation of the original August Wilson play of the same name, stars Denzel Washington (who also directed and produced the movie) and Viola Davis.  Set in Pittsburgh in the 1950’s it is a drama centered on the Maxson family and how they navigate social injustices of their day.

The discussion will be held from 7 to 8 pm on Wednesday, June 23, at the Reading Public Library Foundation Building, 113 S. 4th Street, and led by RPL’s Supervisor of Reference Services, Nathaniel Thomas.  The film will not be viewed at the discussion session but is available in the library’s collection.  The event is free of charge and pre-registration is not required.  Guests can easily access the Foundation Building via the parking lot gate on Wood St. behind the main library.

Masks are required and social distancing will be observed.  The event may be cancelled with no notice.
