Centro Hispano, Olivet Boys & Girls Club to provide free summer meals for kids

Partnership will bring the Summer Food Service Program to 7 club locations

June 11, 2021  –  Centro Hispano and Olivet Boys & Girls Club announced a partnership that will see the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) be brought to the children of Berks County. Centro Hispano will be responsible for producing healthy breakfast and lunch meals throughout the week for the children of Berks County.  The partnership will involve production and distribution breakfast and lunch to every child in the Olivet summer camp.

“Centro Hispano is again partnering with Olivet to address the many food scarcity issues affecting the children of Berks County during the summer. We want to make sure the children have the opportunity to come to an Olivet Club site and receive quality programming, and great meals while learning. By providing these meals, Olivet, Centro Hispano and our community partners will be helping to provide a strong foundation for the children to grow.” said Michael Toledo, President and CEO of Centro Hispano.

Under the SFSP, nutritious meals are provided free of charge to children 18 years and under between 8am and 9am for breakfast and 12 pm and 1 PM at the following sites:

Pendora Club, 330 South 19th Street, 19606
Clinton Street Club, 677 Clinton Street, 19601

Holy Spirit Club, 421 Windsor, 19601

Mulberry Street Club, 722 Mulberry Street, 19604
Oakbrook Club, 1161 Pershing Boulevard, 19611
PAL Club, 325 Walnut Street, 19601

“Olivet Boys and Girls Club will continue to help the many Berks County children by ensuring healthy and nutritious meals are available through the summer thanks to this continued joint effort with Centro Hispano.” said Chris Winters, President and CEO of Olivet Boys and Girls Club.
