Humane PA Grand Opening of Freedom Center for Animal Life-Saving

Humane Pennsylvania’s Freedom Center for Animal Life-Saving on the Giorgi Family Campus (formerly known as the Lindy Scholar Center for Animal Welfare) grand opening will take place on Saturday, June 26, 2021. After setbacks due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the new and improved facility – complete with an adoption area and walk-in wellness clinic – is finally ready for the public.

Karel Minor, Humane Pennsylvania CEO, discusses the importance of the new building; “The Freedom Center for Animal Life-Saving is an evolution in animal sheltering. It provides the traditional pet intake and adoption services people expect, but it marries them with innovative pet relinquishment programs and veterinary services for both public and sheltered animals. Its first goal is to help keep animals at home where they belong through a variety of supports for caretakers.”

The Freedom Center for Animal Life-Saving will provide life-saving resources to pets and their caretakers throughout Berks County and beyond. These resources include pet food, vaccination and wellness care, behavioral and health counseling, and even direct referrals to human service agencies that benefit the person and their animal(s).

Furthermore, The Freedom Center for Animal Life-Saving will ensure the continued success of traditional aspects of Humane Pennsylvania’s critical work, such as sheltering homeless and stray pets, reuniting them with owners, and finding them new forever homes. The Center will also be the hub for Humane Pennsylvania’s cutting-edge original programs, like the Healthy Pets Initiative, which brings together a constellation of services and supports to do more, for more animals, faster and more effectively than ever.

The grand opening is set to take place as a community event, open to the public, and an opportunity to see this innovative building firsthand. The event is kid-friendly and will include guided tours of the new building, a food truck, beer and wine garden, live music, and more! Details surrounding the event are as follows:
