Muhlenberg Parks & Recreation announces Drift Jam event

The Drift Jam is a new event for Muhlenberg Township.  Experience the joy of the Schuylkill River! The first part is a lazy afternoon floating down the Schuylkill River from the Leesport area in a kayak to Jim Dietrich Park on Saturday, July 17th.

We will meet at Jim Dietrich Park near the red brick pavilion at 12 noon then travel to the Leesport Post Office located at (4 East Wall St. Leesport 19533) to gain access to the river.  Rental equipment will be provided by Blue Marsh Outdoors(BMO) and includes kayak, paddles, and life jackets for $35/person.  All participants are required to wear a life preserver and sign waiver forms. NOTE: Please coordinate your own transportation to Leesport for the start of the event AND again back to Leesport to get your car.  It might be good to find a friend to join you so a car can be at the start and finish locations.  Registration for the event and equipment is available online at www.muhlenbergtwp.com under facility and program rentals from now until July 9th.  The cost for rental is $35/ person, if you bring your own equipment there is a $10 fee.

The second part is a clam bake and music Jam in front of the farmhouse at Jim Dietrich Park. Bring your own chair, sit back and relax while listening to the 70’s band Love Lace from 4 to 5:40PM and Flight Risk from 6 to 9PM.  Clam Bakes need to be pre-ordered by July 9th at our website www.muhlenbregtwp.com. There is no outside beverages or food allowed at this event.  Chef Shef’s Catering will be on hand for food purchases and adult beverages will be sold in the beer tent area.
