by the Reading Symphony Orchestra

Jun 30, 2021

This Sunday, July 4th, the Reading Symphony Orchestra will continue the tradition of a free concert and fireworks for the communities of Greater Reading and beyond. The event will be held on the park-like grounds of the EnerSys headquarters at 2366 Bernville Road, across from the Reading Airport. Grounds open at 6:30pm; the concert begins at 8:00pm with fireworks to follow.

“The Reading Symphony Orchestra is always excited to perform its July 4th Star Spangled Spectacular,” said David Gross, RSO Executive Director. “We are grateful to all our sponsors who make these concerts possible, but in particular EnerSys and Boscov’s.”

Sunday’s concert is a FREE, family-friendly event for all ages with plenty of free, off-street parking in the EnerSys corporate lots. Attendees are encouraged to bring their chairs or blankets, plus a picnic – or sample one of four local food trucks. BYOB is permitted; no alcohol will be sold on-site.

EnerSys CEO David Shaffer shared, “EnerSys is honored to sponsor the RSO’s Star Spangled Spectacular once again. We are pleased to welcome our friends and neighbors back to our beautiful Berks County campus to celebrate America’s Independence Day and a return to normalcy. The RSO has planned an outstanding program and there will be plenty of room, food and fun for everyone. Please join us!”

Boscov’s Chairman, Jim Boscov, added, “This year, more than ever, it’s wonderful to be together with friends and family outdoors on a beautiful day, listening to joyful and patriotic music. I don’t think it gets much better than that!”

The Reading Symphony Orchestra will perform patriotic favorites, led by RSO Music Director Andrew Constantine. The program will open with the United States National Anthem, sung by guest artist and acclaimed soprano Toni Marie Palmertree.
