Herbein, Mosteller Combine to Expand HR Solutions

Herbein + Company, Inc. (Herbein), a leading Mid-Atlantic regional certified public accounting firm, and Mosteller & Associates (Mosteller), a regional full-service human resource organization based in Reading, PA, announce the combination of their firms, effective July 1. The merger enhances Herbein’s ability to deliver strategic human resources services and resources that bring even greater value for clients to help them succeed with confidence.

Upon completion of the combination, Mosteller will be a division of Herbein and operate as Herbein HR Solutions, dba Herbein | Mosteller HR Solutions.

Founded in 1994, Mosteller provides and supplements human resource solutions to a wide variety of clients, primarily in eastern and central Pennsylvania and the Mid-Atlantic. Mosteller partners with organizations to improve performance through their most important resource – their team members. Its professionals provide that assistance through a wide range of human resource projects as well as full human resource function outsourcing in the areas of HR consulting, recruiting, training, compensation, outsourcing, and interim HR solutions.

“Learning about the needs of our clients is a top priority.  In addition to year-round conversations and feedback gleaned from educational webinars, we also conduct a client satisfaction survey each year.  Among the top issues we hear are staffing concerns, finding the right personnel for key roles, team member staff training, and HR guidelines related to safety particularly in the post-pandemic landscape,” said Herbein Managing Partner David W. Stonesifer, CPA.  “This acquisition aligns with Herbein’s growth strategy and we view it as a tremendous opportunity to offer our clients a full range of human resources solutions with one of the region’s most respected HR teams,” said Stonesifer. “As one of the Mid-Atlantic’s most trusted accounting, tax and business consulting firms, we are excited to welcome Mosteller into the Herbein family. Our cultures and values are well-aligned, and we share the same entrepreneurial, trusted approach to doing business.”

“Herbein complements and enhances our current service offerings and brings greater opportunity to help us serve clients across the Mid-Atlantic and beyond.  During merger discussions, both firms grew more and more impressed with each other’s people, experience and expertise. We already have multiple shared clients, and we look forward to creating additional client value through integrated efforts,” said Chester “Chet” Q. Mosteller, founder and president of Mosteller.  Mosteller will now serve as Herbein | Mosteller HR Solutions CEO.

“This deal ensures that I’ll be able to focus on client work for the foreseeable future, and it greatly strengthens the growth opportunities for current Mosteller team members as they join a larger organization,” Mosteller added.

Herbein Chief Financial Officer Joseph J. Witkowski, CPA said “This combination is a great example of how two firms can come together to give our clients the edge they need to stay competitive in this extraordinary time. The strategic acquisition of Mosteller reflects our commitment to always look for new, focused solutions to help our clients reach their full potential.”

In total, all 25 Mosteller team members will join Herbein. Both firms are aligned in their commitment to exceptional client service and business continuity throughout the transition. Client notifications are underway. Financial details of the transaction will not be disclosed. Mosteller professionals will remain at their present location and work closely with Herbein’s existing teams in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

“This merger is truly a win-win for both firms,” said Stonesifer. “We are thrilled to have the Mosteller team join us as we strengthen our commitment to providing the right solutions at the right time.”  Adds Mosteller, “As an HR veteran, I know that cultural fit is vital for all combinations, and our shared values set us up to do big things together.”
