Beans places first among extra-large companies recognized as exceptional employers in Greater Philadelphia Region
Fred Beans Automotive Group has scored a “hat trick,” landing for the third straight year among the top places to work in the Greater Philadelphia Region. The Doylestown-based company ranked first in the category of “extra-large” organizations, those with 500 or more employees, on the 2021 Best Places to Work list.
Company founder and president, Fred Beans, was thrilled by the third recognition, especially following a year of navigating the pandemic. “We are only as good as our people,” said Beans. “We hope receiving this award again helps us continue to attract great talent, which impacts everything we do, from innovating business practices to providing exceptional customer service.”
The Best Places to Work list is compiled annually in the Greater Philadelphia region by the Philadelphia Business Journal in partnership with Quantum Workplace, a provider of employee engagement software. Winners are determined solely by employee feedback collected through an independent survey administered by Quantum Workplace. Questions assess a company’s culture covering a range of topics including work environment, support of personal growth, benefits and trust in senior leadership.

One of the key responses from the Beans leadership team to the COVID-19 pandemic was to keep employees informed and connected through weekly emails sent by Beans Gilbert. These updates also provided reassurance that the company was creating safe work environments and adjusting to new ways of conducting business and interacting with customers. Fred Beans Automotive Group also moved some of its Healthy Living programming to online formats, encouraging employees and their families to participate in virtual workouts, led by the company’s wellness coordinator.
In 2021, Fred Beans Automotive Group also earned a spot on the Philadelphia Business Journal’s list of “Healthiest Employers” because of its comprehensive Healthy Living Program.
Fred Beans Automotive Group is one of the largest, privately owned automotive groups in Pennsylvania. The company employs nearly 2,000 individuals, the majority of whom are in southeastern Pennsylvania, where the auto group has its highest concentration of dealerships.
