Aug 08, 2021

Last Day for First Dose of Vaccine is August 11

Tower Health announced today the plans to close its COVID-19 vaccine clinic in September. The clinic, located at 1000 Tuckerton Court in Muhlenberg Township, opened in February and, as of August 3, has distributed 30,312 doses of the Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccine. The last day to receive the first dose of the vaccine is August 11, when the clinic will be open 8 a.m. to noon. All individuals receiving their first dose at the Muhlenberg clinic location will be scheduled to receive their second dose at that location.

Upon closure of the clinic, the health system will begin a phased rollout to offer COVID-19 vaccines at several of the Tower Health Medical Group physician offices.

“I’d like to thank the Tower Health team members and hundreds of community volunteers who made this clinic possible,” said Therese Sucher, Tower Health Executive Vice President and COO and Reading Hospital Interim President and CEO. “Their expertise and support allowed us to mobilize quickly and efficiently so we could distribute this life-saving vaccine to eligible members of our community. What they accomplished is remarkable and is a true testament to the resilience of our team members and the community.”

Debra Powell, MD, Chief, Division of Infectious Diseases and Medical Director, Infection Prevention said, “The closure of the vaccine clinic does not signify an end to the COVID-19 pandemic. The virus is still in our communities. Across the country we are seeing the Delta variant spread rapidly among those that have not been vaccinated and hospitalizations are increasing as a result. When you get vaccinated you protect yourself and your loved ones, and you help prevent future variants of the virus by discouraging its spread.”

Because COVID-19 remains a risk in our community and in accordance with CDC and Pennsylvania Department of Health recommendations, all Tower Health patients, visitors, and employees are required to wear a mask while inside any of our facilities. Please remember to bring your mask if you have an appointment with us or are visiting a patient. This includes individuals who are partially or fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

Additional information about the COVID-19 vaccine can be found at towerhealth.org/COVID19.
