Music on the Mountain Kicks Off Berks Jazz Fest

The Mount Penn Preserve Council of Governments invites residents and friends to a free concert at the Liederkranz to kick off the Berks Jazz Fest.

On Thursday, August 12, 2021 at 5:00pm the Mount Penn Preserve Council of Governments presents Music on the Mountain at the Reading Liederkranz.

Music on the Mountain kicks off the 2021 Berks Jazz Festival with a free concert by the Mount Penn Preservation Jazz Band featuring musicians Dave Kline, Chris Heslop, Josh Taylor, Ken Kemmerer, and Alan Rochlin.

This evening under the stars opens at 5 pm for dinner at the Liederkranz featuring German and American food, and is followed by the free live music community concert at 7 pm in the Liederkranz outdoor grove.

The Liederkranz event features a stage, dance floor, and one of the largest pavilions in Berks County, plus a full bar, Biergarten, and children’s play area. The facility is ADA compliant, and the bar will be open for those over 21. Parking and seating is limited, so get there early for dinner and stay for the concert.

Seating is limited –  so if your plans include the music only –  guests are encouraged  to arrive early and bring their own lawn chairs.

Music on the Mountain at the Liederkranz is sponsored by the following community partners: Foundation for the Reading Pagoda, Pagoda Skyline, Inc., Mount Penn Preserve, and The Blue Mountain Region Sports Car Club of America, Home of the Duryea Hill Climb.  Stop by their information booths during the event to purchase local merchandise and learn more about what’s happening on the Mountain.

Councilwoman Marcia Goodman-Hinnershitz, serves as the President of the Foundation for the Reading Pagoda, and also participates in the Mount Penn Preserve Council of Governments.  In advance of the event, she remarked, “This community event is the perfect place to see all of the nonprofits representing the Mountain working together.”  Councilwoman Hinnershitz and other leaders from the nonprofit will address the audience during the live event.

This event is rain or shine at the Reading Liederkranz on Thursday August 12.  Dinner service starts at 5 pm and the free music concert begins at 7 pm.  For more information visit MusicOTM.com.
