Tower Behavioral Health to Host Third Blood Drive

Tower Behavioral Health, one of eastern Pennsylvania’s premier mental health and addiction treatment centers, is partnering with the American Red Cross to host a blood drive. The event is open to the public.

The event will take place Wednesday, August 25, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., on the Tower Behavioral Health campus, which is located at 201 Wellness Way in Reading. This follows two previous successful blood drives co-hosted by Tower Behavioral Health and the American Red Cross — the first in August 2020 and another in March 2021.

“We’re very much looking forward to continuing our partnership with the American Red Cross and providing this essential service,” Tower Behavioral Health CEO Stephanie Lee said. “Anyone who volunteers to donate blood can play a significant part in saving lives and supporting people in need within their community.”

Someone in the United States needs blood or platelets every two seconds, according to the American Red Cross, and there is currently a critical need for blood nationwide. Approximately 36,000 units of red blood cells are needed every day across the country, and one donation can potentially save up to three lives.

To find a list of available times to give blood and register, interested donors can visit redcrossblood.org and enter the zip code “19605” in the upper right-hand corner.

Participants can also make an appointment by calling the American Red Cross at (800) 733-2767 or Tower Behavioral Health at (484) 659-2300.

Because COVID-19 remains a risk in our community and in accordance with CDC and Pennsylvania Department of Health recommendations, all Tower Behavioral Health patients, visitors, and employees are required to wear a mask while inside any of our facilities. Please remember to bring your mask if you have an appointment with us or are visiting a patient. This includes individuals who are partially or fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
