Berks History Center’s Road Ramble Returns This October!

by Berks History Center

Sep 02, 2021

The Berks History Center (BHC) is pleased to announce the return of its successful Road Ramble event, taking place on Saturday, October 9, 2021. The Road Ramble is a self-guided driving tour that is a nod to the past, when BHC held Mystery Road Rambles in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The event is an innovative experience meant to keep audiences safe while providing educational and cultural opportunities community members can enjoy with others.

Fall ’21 Road Ramble participants can start at the Berks History Center, 940 Centre Ave., Reading, PA, and ramble through Muhlenberg, Longswamp, and Alsace Townships. The route narrative covers the history of local towns and historic sites such as the Berks History Center, the Reading Fairgrounds, Madeira Air Field, East Penn Manufacturing, the Dryville Hotel, the Mertztown Train Station, and much more. The Fall ’21 Road Ramble runs from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. and concludes at the William Penn Fire Tower on Skyline Drive where there will be a Pork BBQ fundraiser (additional charge). Food will also be available at the Longswamp Township Historical Society for purchase.

Tour-goers will receive a Fall ’21 Road Ramble Packet, including a Road Ramble Route Booklet, information on our contests, a narrative CD or USB, and a BHC Fall ’21 Road Ramble Participant bumper sticker.

Tickets are $35/car for BHC Members and $45/car for non-members. Tickets go on sale Wednesday, September 1, 2021. BHC Members must call the Berks History Center to get the member price. All others can buy tickets online at https://www.berkshistory.org/event/fall-21-road-ramble/or call BHC at (610) 375-4375 on Wednesdays to Saturdays from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
