Reading Hospital Revises Visitor Policy as COVID-19 Cases Increase in Community
West Reading, PA. – Reading Hospital – Tower Health announced Friday that inpatient visitation on the main hospital campus will move to one visitor per patient per day, effective immediately. Additionally, the Reading Hospital Rehabilitation at Wyomissing will continue to follow the guidelines set by PA Department of Health which allow visitors only when deemed medically necessary. These revisions come as the most recent analysis shows the COVID-positive prevalence in Berks County now exceeds 10 percent.
“We are committed to the health and safety of our patients, staff, and visitors,” said Rosemary Wurster, DNP, RN, MPH, NEA-BC, CEN, Vice President & Chief Nursing Officer at Reading Hospital. “We will continue to monitor the prevalence of COVID in our communities and follow the recommended guidelines of health agencies and adjust our visitation policies accordingly. I’d also like to express my deepest gratitude to every team member for their continued work in providing the highest quality of care to our community. Every member of our team is critical to keeping our community safe and cared for during these rapidly changing times.”
Because COVID-19 remains a risk in our community and in accordance with CDC and Pennsylvania Department of Health recommendations, all Tower Health patients, visitors, and employees are required to wear a mask while inside any of our facilities. Please remember to bring your mask if you have an appointment with us or are visiting a patient. This includes individuals who are partially or fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
