“Walk With A Doc” Advancing Wellness through Nature

The Berks County Parks and Recreation Department has joined the statewide effort with the Pa. Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and the Pa Medical Society, to advance health and wellness through nature by hosting a “Walk with A Doc” program on Saturday, September 25, 2021 beginning at 1:00 pm.

Walkers of all ages are encouraged to join local pediatrician Dr. Robert Cordes on a 2 mile round trip hike on the Union Canal Connector trail starting at the Army Corps of Engineers Swiftwater Lane parking area, 200 Swiftwater Lane, Leesport Pa.

The hike will highlight natural features and includes a slight hill. Parks staff member Kathy Grim will also share several historic points of interest along the trail. The path is suitable for strollers and well-behaved leashed pets. The event will be held rain or shine. There are no restroom facilities available at this location of the trail. It is recommended to being along a water bottle and wear good walking shoes.
