4 Day Weekend of Film Goers Delight!

Are you ready for a four-day weekend of film goers delight with over 80 films represented by over 40 filmmakers in attendance, tons of parties and so much more? Get ready because this Thursday, September 30 starts the weekend long festivities!  Here are some highlights of this year’s ReadingFilmFEST!

Opening Gala on October 1 — 5:30 p.m. at GoggleWorks Center for the Arts

During the opening gala ReadingFilmFEST will celebrate the life of Reading native, Emmy award winning actor, Michael Constantine with a special announcement! One of the original founders of ReadingFilm, he championed Reading as a film destination and shared his talents with local productions throughout his life.

Friday Night After Party! Friday October 1st 9:30-11pm in the GoggleWorks Parking Lot.*

Lisa Tiger Homes presents The Groovemasters!

Featuring Bennie Sims and Cliff Starkey, Berks own Groovemasters will light up the stage with their legendary R&B, funk, jazz vibe. Bring your dancing shoes to the outdoor venue at the GoggleWorks and be prepared to have fun!

Enjoy food by Greg Buckwalter, beer from Chatty Monks, spirits from Reading Distillery and Stony Run Wines. This event is free to all VIP pass holders. Cover charge for non-passholders $10/person.

*In case of rain, this party will move indoors. All attendees must show proof of vaccination to enter any indoor ReadingFilmFEST events.

The City of Reading and Reading Musical Foundation present a Special Closing Celebration of our Latino Community.

ReadingFilmFEST special selection film, “Soy Cubana,” and closing night performances pay tribute to our city’s rich Latin culture on Sunday, October 3, festivities beginning at 2:30 p.m., GoggleWorks Center for the Arts. We will be ending this year’s festival with our awards ceremony followed by a reception with a Latin twist featuring the WH Dance Academy, a salsa band, Pancho Bongo Y Su Orquesta and Latin cuisine by Mi Casa Su Casa.

Special Selection Viewing of Soy Cubana on Sunday, October 3 at 2:30 p.m. GoggleWorks Boscov Theater.

Awards Ceremony & Reception​ on Sunday, October 3 from 5 – 6pm GoggleWorks Room 420​ open to passholders.

Free Latin celebration on Sunday, October 3 from 6 – 7:30 p.m. GoggleWorks Room 420 Featuring: Band Pancho Bongo Y Su Orquesta, and Dance Performance by WH Dance Academy. For more information, visit https://readingfilmfest.com/closing-events/.

In addition to these highlights, this year’s film festival is thrilled to feature 80+ films, with many focusing on current, hot-topic social issues. “Our seventh season is all about embracing community and harnessing the power of film and other art forms to enrich our lives. From opening day to closing night, we’ve intentionally entwined a mixture of art and culture. We’ve collaborated with dozens of non-profits and community partners to present an exceptional film festival and year-round programming that expands our impact in the community and reaches new audiences,” states Cammie Harris, ReadingFilmFEST Executive Director.
