GRCA to host 2021 MFG Summit & Career Fair

Join the Greater Reading Chamber Alliance (GRCA) 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 27, our region’s premier annual MFG Summit and Career Fair. The event will kick off at the Miller Center for the Arts with welcome from GRCA President & CEO Jim Gerlach and Bonnie Spayd, Executive Director of Workforce & Economic Development at Reading Area Community College (RACC). Denise Ball, Workforce Development Specialist at Tooling U-SME, will provide the timely, keynote address titled “Attract & Retain to Sustain Manufacturing.”

The keynote address will be followed by a workshop titled “AI XR Innovation-readiness: Future-proof Workforce” given by Lisa Sibilia and DP Prakash, Co-CEOs of YouTopian. Attendees will learn how to future-proof their staffs via innovation pathways to cross the technology chasm in workforce development. They will also review workforce development techniques for the innovation economy though AI and eXtended reality. A panel of Mark Dolinki, GRCA’s Vice President of Training & Development, Alexia Pursley, Human Resource Manager at Arkema, Terri Lampe, Business Development Manager at Manufacturers Resource Center (MRC) and Spayd will lead a discussion on “Navigating Training in your Workforce.” A presentation will be given on the “Skills Gap Study Findings” and what they mean. RACC’s President Susan Looney will give the closing.

Following the Summit, manufacturers are invited to register for a table at the MFG Career Fair to meet with potential job applicants from noon to 3 p.m. in RACC’s Schmidt Training &Technology Center.

Please note: Masks are REQUIRED indoors at all RACC facilities, which includes the Miller Center for the Arts and the Schmidt Training & Technology Center.
