BCPS Announce Returning Citizens Career Fair 2021

BCPS is excited to be hosting the Returning Citizens Career Fair 2021, November 15th 10am-2pm at the DoubleTree by Hilton, Reading. This Career Fair is being held for individuals that are on probation or parole, have prior involvement in the criminal justice system, or domestic relations involvement.

BCPS is looking for employers who are hiring and wish to reserve a table. A study conducted by Northwestern University in 2017 showed that “individuals with criminal records have a much longer tenure and are less likely to quit their jobs voluntarily than other workers.”

Also, formerly justice involved individuals are one such target group for the Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC). By hiring an ex-offender who works a minimum of 120 hours, employers can claim a partial tax credit.
