KU Debuts Graduate Certificate in School Social Work

by Kutztown University

Nov 04, 2021

Kutztown University’s new graduate certificate in school social work debuts for the 2021 fall semester within KU’s Master of Social Work program. With job market demands increasing for qualified social work professionals, KU’s new certificate will help fulfill labor market needs in an accessible, affordable and high-quality program.

The 16-hour curriculum includes both classroom instruction and a field practicum component and covers concepts and competencies based on Pennsylvania’s Department of Education Chapter 49 competencies for social work certificate programs. It introduces students to the knowledge, skills and ethical decision-making capacities used by school social workers.

The program can be completed in one year by students enrolling full-time. Instruction is offered in a hybrid format, including in-person and online components.

Applicants must possess a baccalaureate degree and either be students in a KU Master of Social Work program or have completed the Master of Social Work degree from an accredited social work program.

Learn more on the social work website or by contacting the department at 610-683-4235 or [email protected].
