Rachel Ohnsman Performs Live at the WCR Center

The WCR Center for the Arts is thrilled to host Rachel Ohnsman as she performs live on Saturday, November 27 at 7:00 PM, at the WCR located at 140 North Fifth Street in downtown Reading.

Ohnsman will perform songs off her album “Moon Songs” as well as a few covers. After the show guests will be invited to stay for a talk-back from Stacey Jordan, Managing Director of Community Engagement at Safe Berks.

Tickets for Ohnsman’s concert are $10. For the safety of our audience and musicians, masks and vaccine card or a negative Covid test within 48 hours are required for entry.

“Moon Songs is about the process of recovery. It’s about mental health, trauma, and healing. The project was made possible through support for a Kickstarter campaign for this and another album that will be released next year. I’ve performed songs from Moon Songs in Miami, and shared videos online, but I released the project mid-pandemic, so this will be my first performance of the complete project!” says Ohnsman.

When asked about her relationship with Safe Berks, Ohnsman said, “I’ve known about Safe Berks for a long time through my dad’s involvement, and am so glad for the work they do. One of the scariest parts of experiencing these traumas is the isolation, and having resources and awareness makes all the difference.”

“Safe Berks thanks Rachel Ohnsman for inviting staff to be a part of her concert on Nov. 27,” said Stacey Jordan, Managing Director of Community Engagement at Safe Berks. “We look forward to this opportunity to share information about our free and confidential services for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, and also to answer questions from the audience after the concert.”

“Unfortunately, there is still a stigma which surrounds sexual assault and domestic violence,” said Jordan. “This stigma often prevents the open discussion of these issues and crimes. At Safe Berks, education and outreach are a large part of our work every day. We appreciate being a part of conversations about these issues. Our goals include making sure that everyone in Berks County knows how to access our free services, and the prevention of sexual assault and domestic violence through education.”

When asked about returning home to Berks County Ohnsman said, “I’m so happy to be returning home and performing my music at WCR. The last time I played here, I was itching to get out and explore the world. Now, I’m even more proud to return to where it all started for me.”

Parking is available in the Abraham Lincoln parking garage located on the corner of 5th and Washington Street downtown Reading.

Please note that while every effort is being made to become accessible, the WCR Center is not currently wheelchair accessible.
