Berks Alliance Announces Spotlight on the Camel Project

“Not all camels are in the desert”

Motivated by her own personal experience, Pam Gockley launched the Camel Project.  The project is designed to help communities, schools, organizations and even individuals end bullying and create a more accepting and inclusive culture. The Camel Project helps create policies and procedures to combat bullying and form a more accepting community. The project helps form support networks for the victims of bullying and education programs for both the bulliers and the bullied.

Nearly a third of school students across the country have said that they have been bullied.  And about a third have said that they have bullied other students. Bullying isn’t limited to schools and playgrounds.  Bullying can occur in the workplace and throughout the broader community. And with the increased use of social media, cyberbullying has become more common place.

Pam Gockley and her team at the Camel Project, which is based in Reading, have traveled across the country to offer education and training programs to change a culture of violent and abusive behavior caused by bullying. Pam will share her experience with the Camel Project, why it is important not just to her but to the broader community and how people can help end bullying.
