Breast Cancer Support Services of Berks Announces New Board Members

Breast Cancer Support Services of Berks County is pleased to announce that Dr. Anne McLendon, Leslie Fessler and Erin Vida have been elected to serve on the Board of Directors. The staff and volunteers congratulate and welcome Dr. McLendon, Leslie and Erin to the BCSS family.

Dr. McLendon grew up in Exeter and attended Amherst College in Massachusetts. After college, she spent time working in New England and then traveled to Philadelphia to attend medical school at Temple University. Dr. McLendon completed her general surgery residency at Temple Hospital and then returned home to work at the Reading Hospital. She became familiar with BCSS while taking care of her breast cancer patients. She is looking forward to acting as a liaison between BCSS and the hospital. She resides with her husband and six children on a small farm.

Leslie Fessler was diagnosed in 2014 with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. She is currently the Volunteer Coordinator for BCSS and also serves as the Chair of the Community Awareness Committee. She is an active member of the Pink Passion for Fashion Committee, our signature annual fundraising event, and attends many of the programs offered to local breast cancer survivors. Leslie resides in Womelsdorf with her husband. She has three children and two beautiful granddaughters.

Erin Vida RN, BSN, OCN is an oncology certified registered nurse with 23 years of nursing experience. She is currently employed as the Nurse Manager at Penn State Health St. Joseph Cancer Center. Erin was born and raised in Reading and graduated from Reading High School. She obtained her associate degree in nursing from Alvernia University followed by her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Kutztown University. Erin is currently enrolled at Alvernia University pursuing a master’s degree in nursing leadership and healthcare administration.

She currently resides in Wernersville with her husband Tom, as well as their 2 daughters, Laurel and Emily. During the pandemic four cats were added to their family that now includes 2 dogs and 5 cats.
