About the Series

The event is the last in the four-part Navigating the Leasing Process of Utility-Scale and Community Solar in New York and Pennsylvania series. In conjunction with New York and Pennsylvania Farm Bureau, Penn State Extension and Cornell Extension are offering the series on leasing land for utility-scale and community solar in the region. Increasing numbers of landowners, including many farmers, are being approached to lease their land for large solar facilities. Others may be interested in leasing to a solar developer. It is important for anyone considering leasing their land to understand the implications of the leasing process.

The Navigating the Leasing Process of Utility-Scale and Community Solar in New York and Pennsylvania series will explore why solar is rapidly expanding in New York and Pennsylvania, the overall trends driving this emergence, and the contractual details which will be a part of an option/lease agreement landowners might be offered to sign. The program is not advocating for or against leasing land for solar, but is designed to offer insights for anyone interested in leasing land to solar developers. There will also be a short immersive virtual solar tour to better inform participants of the various elements of solar facilities and what they look like while and after they are being installed. Participants will be better prepared to make decisions about whether leasing makes sense for them and, if they wish to proceed, to negotiate an outcome that accommodates the landowner’s long-term plans. Each of the programs will include a Question and Answer session.

This event is being offered at no charge to participants. Registration is required to receive the link to access the webinar. Registrants will also receive access to the webinar recording.

Registration Deadline: March 22, 2022 11:59 PM
