West Lawn, PA – Nine year old Kaden Simmons is a 3rd grade student at Whitfield Elementary,Wilson School District. He has a passion for sports which turned into a love of sports after having the opportunity to meet Nick Singleton after one of Governor Mifflin’s football games. Ever since taking a picture with Nick Singleton, Kaden Simmons speaks of working hard and training like him and it is motivation in his athletic pursuits.
Kaden started his Wilson football career with Van Reed Mighty Mites Coach Jonny Challenger, who is incidentally our neighbor. He began training through Parisi Speed School trainer Avory Cole and started basketball practice with a Wilson team for Berks Bombers. He became committed to excellence in school by keeping As, learning other languages and playing musical instruments, eating more vegetables, and becoming more health conscious. His motivation encourages his mom to come home from teaching preschool children all day to coaching cheerleading and soccer. He motivated his dad to coach basketball and flag football. One day on the way to training, he asked his dad “why don’t we start our own sporting business?”
That was the motivation to start Berks Youth Sports Clinic. To bring the community together and provide training and health information to the youth in Berks County. Our first clinic is being held April 2nd, 9th, 16th, and 23rd from 12pm to 2pm in East Coast Sports Academy located at 2816 Old Pricetown Rd Temple, PA 19560. The clinic is co-ed and opened to youth ages 7 to 13. There will be strength and agility training as well as a mini football camp with various local youth trainers. A FREE Cardio Kick class is being presented in the adjacent room by Gregory Smith of GK Fitness. Free vegetables, fruit, water, and Gatorade are available to all athletes throughout the program. All attendees will also receive a free t-shirt, to be presented by City of Reading Mayor Eddie Moran and USOA Ms. Pennsylvania 2022 Brianne Houck. Cory Washing of SNM Snac Shac will be selling concessions and several Wilson mothers volunteered to serve concessions.
With this new venture we hope to spread a healthy lifestyle to all youth in Berks County and academic mentorships with local college programs. Through listening to the dreams, passion, and dedication of a 9 year old child it has changed our lives and impacted both the youth and adults of the community for the better.
