Berks Bards Presents Events for April Poetry Month

April is National Poetry Month and each year Berks Bards, a Berks County based poetry group, marks the occasion by holding a celebration of written and spoken word poetry known as ‘Bard Fest.’ The group will be hosting its first in-person poetry reading since the pandemic on Thursday, April 7, 2022 at 6 pm in the café space on the first floor of the GoggleWorks Center for the Arts, 201 Washington Street, Reading, PA 19601. Robert Fillman, author of Housebird, and an Assistant Professor of English at Kutztown University, will be the featured poet on April 7 for First Thursday, Berks Bards’ monthly reading series. This event is free and open to the public, and will be followed by an open reading.

Bard Fest also offers local poets the opportunity to record their poems for Berks Community Television. During Bard Fest pieces will be aired on television and streamed online with Berks Community Television (BCTV). Each day in April BCTV will highlight a new poet whose work will be aired in steady rotation throughout the day on cable and streaming platforms and later archived on YouTube.

Berks Bards is a grassroots poetry group with the aim of encouraging the lively art of poetry in Berks County. Please visit https://berksbards.blogspot.com for more information.
