Local REALTORS Donate Baskets to Easter Baskets for Berks

by Reading-Berks Association of REALTORS®

Apr 11, 2022

For 20 years, the non-profit service project Easter Baskets for Berks has been collecting donations and buying, preparing, and delivering Easter baskets for children in need throughout Berks County. Starting the project because she saw a need for children to receive toys and gifts throughout the year and not just at Christmas time, REALTOR® Tina Hogue, Keller Williams Realty Group, is proud that her service project has donated over 15,000 baskets to community organizations such as SafeBerks, The Children’s Home of Reading, Mary’s Shelter, The 2nd Street Learning Center at Opportunity House, OneLuv Outreach and others over the years.

“I started by buying, filling and donating 100 baskets to SafeBerks which was at that time called Berks Women In Crisis,” says Hogue. “I wanted to show my kids how important it was to give to others. This is my 20th year! With the help of many individuals, businesses and organizations, I’ve been able to donate thousands of filled baskets to many organizations serving children and families in Berks County.”

Members of the Reading-Berks Association of REALTORS® (R-BAR) are honored to assist Hogue in her mission, filling 315 of the total 550 baskets collected this year for children in need from infancy to age 12.

“From an association perspective, community outreach projects are invaluable to who we are,” comments Brittney Baker Shurr, R-BAR Association Executive. “REALTORS® and business affiliates from all over, Berks and beyond, coming together to spread a little joy to hundreds of our youngest neighbors. That’s what it’s all about!”

This year’s baskets were purchased through generous donations from Jason Burkholder, Welcome Home Real Estate, Sun Federal Credit Union, and Riverfront Federal Credit Union.

Giving back is at the heart of what it means to a REALTOR®. R-BAR members, like Tina Hogue, are dedicated to improving and making a difference in the communities they work and live in.

“I’m grateful to now have the support of R-BAR, their affiliates as well as my fellow REALTORS®. It’s amazing what can be accomplished when we work together,” explains Hogue. “Now my grandchildren are learning, too!”

Just some of the 315 baskets R-BAR donated to the non-profit service project Easter Baskets for Berks. Roughly 550 baskets will be donated overall to children in need throughout Berks County.

REALTOR® is a federally registered collective membership mark which identifies a real estate professional who is a member of the national, state and local association of REALTORS® and subscribes to a strict Code of Ethics.
