Join community leaders for an important and timely conversation with special guest JW Cortés, on violence prevention and how film can be used as a catalyst for social change. The Berks County high school student film competition, Five Minute FilmFEST, award ceremony will follow the discussion.
Mr. Cortés is a Marine combat veteran and full-time New York State Police Officer, turned actor, singer, and philanthropist. He is best known for his role as ‘Detective Carlos Alvarez’ on the hit series Gotham. Cortés is the first actor in history to portray the iconic comic book character in television and film. In addition, he is a recognized motivational speaker for youth, providing encouragement for rejecting violence and drugs, embracing education, and encouraging students to follow their dreams.
