Tower Health announced that Brian Lahmann, MD, has been appointed the Physician Leader for Emergency Medicine at Tower Health. Dr. Lahmann will continue his duties as Chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine at Reading Hospital. His role will be expanded to include clinical oversight for system initiatives regarding emergency services throughout Tower Health.
Dr. Lahmann has been with Tower Health since 2009 when he began as an Emergency Medicine physician at Reading Hospital. He then became leader of the Emergency Medicine Throughput Initiative. During this process improvement initiative, Dr. Lahmann partnered with Hospitalist Services to decrease length of stay for admitted patients by more than 30 percent. Dr. Lahmann went on to become Vice Chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine in 2019 and Chair in February 2020. He provided extraordinary leadership of the Emergency Department during the COVID-19 pandemic. Dr. Lahmann also serves as the Associate Designated Institutional Official (DIO) for Reading Hospital’s graduate medical education activities.
Dr. Lahmann received his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and master’s degree in Hospital and Health Administration from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. He then received his Doctorate in Medicine from Temple University School of Medicine, followed by a residency in Emergency Medicine at Cooper University Hospital in Camden New Jersey, where he served as Chief Resident. Dr. Lahmann is active in the local community, including serving as medical director for Geigertown Fire Quick Response Service and supporting the Afghan Sponsor Circle of Greater Reading.
