Shining a Light on Community Work

Barrio Alegría in partnership with The Wyomissing Foundation announced $25,000 in grant awards to local organizations as part of their pilot FARO grant program.

The FARO Grant Committee is made up of local community members enrolled in Barrio’s Leadership Development Cohort responsible for reviewing funding requests and recommending grants to The Wyomissing Foundation Board.

The following five local initiatives will receive $5,000 grants to deliver community engagement projects in the Reading Area.

  1. Ashley Dejesus / North of Penn Initiative – to conduct cleanups and family activities in the Front and Schieler Park neighborhood
  2. Pagoda City Records – To hold a Summer Cypher Series
  3. We are Beautee – To hold children and youth activities in parks around the Essick Playground neighborhood
  4. Bring the Change – to hold Sundays at the park engagement activities at City Park
  5. Nadine Smet Weiss / And Then… – to publish a periodical with community stories representative of the city.

The next opportunity for FARO grants will open in the fall of 2022 and will be awarded in the spring of 2023.
