Berks Agricultural Resource Network Kicks-Off Summer B.A.R.N.OPOLY Challenge

Berks Agricultural Resource Network (B.A.R.N), a Berks County non-profit committed to celebrating and growing agriculture within the region, is hosting its 2nd annual summer farm market challenge, B.A.R.N.OPOLY. 40 farm markets, farms, roadside stands, restaurants, and businesses are participating in this year’s B.A.R.N.OPOLY. Guests can pick up an official playing card at the kick-off or any of the participating markets. No purchase is necessary, but encouraged to show support for small, local businesses, especially as input costs continue to rise and strains are placed on our regional supply chain.

“B.A.R.N. is excited to partner with our diverse members to provide a fun activity for people to discover and connect with local Ag-related businesses in Greater Reading and Berks throughout the summer.  The aim is to raise awareness about these locations and their important roles in the local food and agricultural system.   We hope players continue to support and build meaningful relationships with these farms and businesses long after the game is over to strengthen our agricultural community as a whole,” said leaders of the B.A.R.N. Team.

Players may submit their card to B.AR.N. for drawings and prizes, but anyone is welcome to join in the local adventure. The game runs June 20, kicking off at Roselawn Bistro (3650 Perkiomen Ave #302, Reading, PA 19606) on Monday, June 20, at 5pm, and will conclude August 20 at a wrap-up event to be announced this summer.

Guests including Berks County Commissioners, Senator Judy Schwank, Greater Reading Chamber Alliance President Jim Gerlach, Representative Mark Gillen, and other Berks County administrators will be present for a special ribbon cutting and ceremony to kick off the summer tour.
